work comments

“Desperation” can mean rashness, even frenzy, as well as despondency or anxiety. The music is composed in a way that treats melodies, rhythms and sounds as sonorous objects, all of which are first introduced only to disappear in unforeseeable ways. This also brings the individual voice of each instrument to the furthest limits of profundity. Desperation was given its première performance, in its original version, on 1 August 2002 in Visby  during the Gotland Chamber Music Festival by Trio Frygla. It was revised in 2006.
